I was so close to canceling, yall don’t even understand man. 🥺🥺

... Read moreI totally understand how tempting it is to cancel plans or back out of commitments when you're feeling overwhelmed or uncertain. There have been many times when I was literally on the verge of saying 'no' or backing away from something important to me. But what helped me push through was focusing on the 'why' behind my commitment—whether it was a personal goal, a friendship, or an opportunity. One method I find useful is pausing for a moment and acknowledging those feelings honestly instead of immediately reacting. This gives space to consider if the urge to cancel is temporary discomfort or a sign of a bigger issue. Another thing that helped me was breaking down the task or event into smaller parts, making it feel less daunting. For example, instead of thinking about an entire day or project, I focused on the next five minutes or one achievable step. That way, the pressure to 'follow through perfectly' diminished. Sometimes sharing these feelings with close friends or family gave me extra encouragement and a fresh perspective. They often reminded me of the positive outcomes that awaited if I didn’t give up. Lastly, reminding myself that it’s okay to feel nervous or unsure helped normalize what I was experiencing. It’s a universal feeling, and pushing through it often leads to personal growth and satisfaction. If you’re struggling with similar moments, remember you’re not alone. Embracing these emotions instead of fighting them can be empowering and ultimately keep you aligned with your goals and values.
