Meet my Babes

... Read moreIt's truly a special feeling to be surrounded by animals every day at the barn. Each one has a unique personality, and even though many aren't technically 'mine,' the bond you form is just as strong. Cirrus and Acoo, for instance, are constants in my routine. Cirrus has this incredibly calm and gentle presence, always greeting me with a soft nuzzle. You can't help but feel at peace around him. Training Acoo has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my time here. It's not just about teaching commands; it's about building trust and understanding. We started with basic groundwork, focusing on clear communication and positive reinforcement. Acoo is incredibly intelligent and often picks things up quickly, but sometimes that 'Vv sassy' side comes out, which just adds to his charm! Seeing his progress and the way he responds makes all the effort worthwhile. It’s a partnership, and every small success feels like a huge win. Beyond Cirrus and Acoo, there's a whole cast of characters that make barn life so vibrant. There's Beet, who's always up for a good scratch behind the ears and has the funniest way of rolling in the dirt after a bath. Then there's HANK, who possesses the biggest, most expressive eyes you've ever seen – he can communicate so much with just a look! And don't even get me started on Beau; he's definitely got his own unique personality, always keeping us on our toes with his playful antics and a definite mischievous streak. Meeting these different 'pets' and learning their individual quirks is such a joy. Spending time with these animals teaches you so much about patience, empathy, and unconditional love. Each one has their own way of communicating, and their own needs. It’s not just riding; it’s grooming, feeding, observing their behavior, and simply being present with them. Understanding their body language is key to building a good relationship and ensuring both our safety and theirs. If you ever get the chance to spend time at a barn or with farm animals, I highly recommend it! Remember to always approach animals calmly and respectfully. Always ask owners before petting or feeding, and be aware of your surroundings. Volunteering at a local farm or stable is a fantastic way to start; you learn so much hands-on, from basic care to understanding their individual temperaments and how to handle them safely. These 'babes' truly fill my life with joy and purpose. They're more than just animals; they're companions, teachers, and an endless source of comfort and fun. Every day at the barn is an adventure, and I wouldn't trade these moments for anything.
