Gundam installation can move!

This is the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Statue located in front of the DiverCity Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba, Tokyo.

The statue is a 1:1 scale replica standing approximately 19.7 meters (64.6 feet) tall.

It features two modes: "Unicorn Mode" with a single horn, and "Destroyer Mode" which reveals hidden light panels and increases its height.

The exhibition for this landmark is scheduled to end in August 2026.

Many guests will usually leave after snapping some pictures. But hold on! It can start moving every hourly, eg. 2pm, 3pm etc.

Beyond its sheer size, the statue’s ability to transform between Unicorn Mode and Destroyer Mode adds an interactive element that engages both dedicated fans and casual visitors. From my experience, arriving a bit before the hourly transformations gives you a chance to explore the surrounding DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, including various Gundam-themed shops and cafés. The statue’s movements, which include the horn extending and glowing light panels, create a captivating spectacle that showcases Japan’s passion for robotics and pop culture. If you time your visit right, you can witness multiple transformations in a day. The statue’s movements are synchronized to a sound and light show, making the experience even more immersive. Be sure to bring a camera with a good zoom lens to capture the details, as the scale makes for impressive photos from different angles. Additionally, the upcoming closure of the exhibition in August 2026 means this is a limited-time opportunity to see a life-sized, moving Gundam statue. It’s a must-see attraction for anyone traveling to Tokyo, especially if you appreciate giant robots or want to experience a fascinating part of modern Japanese culture.
