5 months Loc’d in| 🌻
Hey everyone! It's been 5 incredible months since I began my loc journey, and I’m still so excited just saying, “Loc'd In!” It feels like just yesterday I was getting my starter locs, and now I'm firmly in the 'budding' phase. For those of you wondering what that even means, budding is when your hair starts to matt and intertwine at the ends, forming those beautiful, distinct locs. My hair is definitely doing its thing, and it's so rewarding to see the progress. One of the biggest questions I get is about caring for budding locs. It’s crucial to keep them moisturized without over-saturating. I use a light rosewater spray daily and oil my scalp a few times a week to keep things healthy. Retwists are important for maintaining shape, but I've learned not to overdo it – every 4-6 weeks works best for me to avoid thinning. Sleeping with a silk bonnet is non-negotiable to prevent frizz and lint. "It's the hair for me!" has become my motto because taking care of it feels so natural now. If you're thinking about starting your own loc journey, one of the first decisions you’ll make is about your starter loc size and method. There's no one-size-fits-all, and it really depends on the look you want! Coils tend to create smaller, uniform locs, while two-strand twists often result in thicker, more rope-like locs. For those with mixed hair locs, moisture is your best friend! Your hair might respond differently to products, so find what works for your unique texture to keep it hydrated and prevent breakage. Seeing others with long, mature locs is so inspiring, and it motivates me to continue caring for mine through every stage. The patience required is immense, but the growth, both physically and personally, is truly worth it. It’s a lifestyle, and I'm embracing every moment of this beautiful transformation.
