A day in Frankenmuth Michigan
Day 2 of our summer vacation we went to Frankenmuth Michigan for the day
We walked around Bronner’s the largest Christmas store, mostly looked at the Halloween village, but also got some ornaments for our yule tree.
Went to the Haus of Greta because deep down I’m still a young girl with a obsession.
Drove over the Covered bridge to the cute little shopping area they have. We did some walking around and shopping and even learned how to be blacksmiths (post coming)
Then we had dinner at Zhender’s chicken. The chicken was so good we had to buy the seasoning and cookbook 😂
We got one thing of fudge (which if im honest was not the best) and then grabbed drinks from their cute McDonald’s for the drive back to the hotel.
Frankenmuth, Michigan, is affectionately known as Michigan’s little Bavaria, offering visitors a unique blend of German heritage and small-town charm. One of the town’s most famous attractions is Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store. Visitors can explore extensive holiday displays year-round, including fascinating Halloween villages and a vast selection of ornaments perfect for any festive yule tree. This creates an enchanting shopping experience that appeals to visitors of all ages. Another highlight worth visiting is the Haus of Greta, a boutique that offers authentic Bavarian-style apparel and merchandise inspired by local culture and even famous personalities like Greta Van Fleet. The store captures the youthful spirit and regional pride, making it a unique spot for both souvenirs and fashion enthusiasts. Driving across the historic Covered Bridge, built in 1979 with a 10-ton weight limit, leads you to a quaint shopping district that boasts charming shops and local artisans. This area provides the perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls and unique discoveries. Engaging activities like blacksmith workshops offer immersive experiences that reveal the craftsmanship and traditional trades of the region. No visit to Frankenmuth is complete without tasting the town’s culinary delights. Zhender’s Famous Chicken is a beloved local eatery known for its perfectly seasoned chicken recipes, so much so that visitors often purchase their special seasoning and cookbooks to recreate the flavors at home. While fudge lovers may want to explore multiple options, this culinary journey adds a sweet note to the day. For those who want to unwind before heading back to their accommodations, the local McDonald's with its Bavarian-themed setting provides a charming spot to grab a drink and reflect on a day filled with memorable attractions and cultural experiences. Frankenmuth stands out as a family-friendly, culturally rich destination ideal for a summer vacation day filled with exploration, shopping, dining, and authentic Bavarian charm.
