So much easier using precut Shredded Cabbage
#CapCut #shredded cabbage #cabbage #coleslaw
I thought it would be so much easier using precut shredded cabbage that was made for coleslaw to make slow cooker crockpot cabbage. Soooo much easier for your hands, super hard cutting a head of cabbage.
I used 2 bags of the angel hair shredded cabbage. Pork neckbones,
minced garlic,Vidalia onions, carrots. The seasonings I used ( not measured) are: sea salt, pepper, sugar, brown sugar, liquid smoke, soy sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, beef bouillon cubes (3) at the point of this vid, it was cooking for 2 hours, I had it set for 10 hours. I'm not sure to leave it more as a soup or not.

After sharing my super easy crockpot shredded cabbage recipe, I got so many questions about what else you can do with this versatile veggie, especially beyond just coleslaw! I totally get it – a bag of pre-cut shredded cabbage is such a time-saver, and it opens up a world of possibilities for quick and healthy meals. First, let's talk about those 'besides coleslaw' ideas. If you're looking for something quick, shredded cabbage is amazing in a stir-fry. Just toss it in with your favorite protein (chicken, shrimp, tofu) and other veggies like bell peppers and carrots. It adds a great crunch and absorbs flavors beautifully. Another fantastic option is cabbage soup. Many people use coleslaw mix directly for a speedy cabbage soup base! Just sauté some onions and garlic, add broth, diced tomatoes, your shredded cabbage, and any other veggies or protein you like. Let it simmer until tender – it's really comforting and healthy. I've even made a hearty version with ground beef or turkey. Shredded cabbage also makes a fantastic base for salads that aren't coleslaw. Think Asian-inspired salads with a sesame-ginger dressing, or a vibrant Mexican-style salad for tacos, adding a nice crunch without wilting quickly. Speaking of tacos, it's a perfect topping for fish tacos or pulled pork sliders. For something a bit different, you can even mix it into fritters or patties with some eggs and flour, then pan-fry them until golden. Now, about preparing cabbage if you don't have pre-cut bags – don't worry, it's easier than you think! If you're wondering how to shred cabbage without a fancy machine, a large grater works wonders for a finer shred, perfect for quick cooking or salads. For a more uniform, slightly thicker cut, a mandoline is your best friend – just be extra careful with the safety guard! When it comes to washing cabbage, whether it's a whole head or pre-shredded, a quick rinse under cold water is usually sufficient. If you've got a whole head, remove the outer leaves, cut it into quarters, remove the core, and then slice or shred. And yes, you absolutely can pre-cut cabbage! If you shred a whole head, store it in an airtight container in the fridge, and it usually stays fresh for 3-5 days, making meal prep a breeze. For those who loved my crockpot recipe, there are so many crockpot cabbage recipes to explore. While I love it with pork neck bones, you can easily adapt it. Try it with smoked sausage or kielbasa for a different flavor profile, or even just with vegetarian broth and extra vegetables like potatoes and carrots for a comforting side dish or light meal. Sometimes I'll even add a touch of apple cider vinegar at the end for a little zing. The beauty of the crockpot is how it transforms tough cabbage into something incredibly tender and flavorful with minimal effort. Just set it and forget it, and you'll come back to a delicious, healthy meal. It's truly one of my favorite ways to cook cabbage, especially on busy days when I don't want to turn on the oven for hours!
