This Mother's Day, as we have been landscaping around our home, I've found myself contemplating gardens—whether small or expansive—and the time needed to cultivate them. Planting these gardens requires time, a precious resource that seems to vanish more quickly as we age. Regardless of the time it takes, whether our mothers are near or far, there is always someone in our lives who has supported us in nurturing a seed or growing a garden—and it doesn’t necessarily have to be an actual garden or a mother figure.

We should value those who embody maternal qualities, as their time was invaluable in helping others grow, such as with mentors. As we look ahead, it’s essential to remember those who helped us tend to our gardens. May these memories bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.~ Brenna

To all the mothers, grandmothers,

and guiding hearts -

your love is the root

of every bloom.

She plants with her hands,

but grows with her heart.

In her garden: laughter,

dandelions, dreams.

From one seed,

a whole garden grows.

From one girl,

a legacy of women blooms.

Some bloom as daughters,

others rise as grandmothers.

Some fly away like birds.

Others stay and hold hands.

But in every field,

in every heart—

what grows in her garden

grows in us all.

This Mother's Day, we celebrate not just one generation

but all the hands that have made us who we are.
