... Read moreJapan is an absolute paradise for shoppers, offering so much more than just beautiful temples and delicious food. I recently returned from a trip, and let me tell you, the shopping was a highlight! If you're planning a visit, you absolutely need to know about these must-buy items that I’d recommend to any traveler. First up, let's talk about beauty and skincare. Japanese and Korean beauty products are world-renowned, and Japan offers a fantastic selection. I seriously regret not stocking up more on the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun: Rice + Probiotics sunscreen. It’s incredibly lightweight, doesn't leave a white cast, and felt amazing on my skin – perfect for daily use. You can easily find popular skincare brands in drugstores like Matsumoto Kiyoshi, Don Quijote, or beauty departments in stores like Loft and Tokyu Hands. Another gem I discovered was the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask. It works wonders for keeping pores clear and giving you that refreshed feeling, a lifesaver after long flights and busy sightseeing days. And for those tired eyes, Mediheal under eye patches are an absolute must-have – they do wonders for puffiness and hydration, making you look well-rested even when you’re not! Beyond beauty, Japan is a haven for fashion and unique accessories. My silver Onitsuka Tigers were such a fantastic find. Not only are they super comfortable for all the walking you'll do, but they're also stylish and come in unique colors you might not find anywhere else. Definitely check out their boutiques or large department stores. And if you love a good treasure hunt, dive into Japan's vintage scene! Scoring my vintage Givenchy purse was truly the find of a lifetime. Areas like Shimokitazawa in Tokyo are packed with incredible vintage shops where you can unearth designer bags, unique clothing, and accessories. Just remember to examine items carefully for authenticity and condition. Oh, and keep an eye out for exclusive Japanese editions of brands like Adidas – they often have unique designs you won't see back home. For truly special souvenirs and home goods, consider something practical yet beautiful. I absolutely adore the Japanese knife I bought and had engraved with my initial. The craftsmanship is incredible, and I use it daily! Kappabashi Street in Tokyo, known as Kitchen Town, is the perfect place to find high-quality knives, and many shops offer engraving services for a personalized touch. It’s an investment, but worth it. And for something fun and personalized, look for places where you can create custom lip balm containers – such a cute and unique keepsake! To make the most of your shopping spree, remember a few key tips: always carry your passport for tax-free shopping at eligible stores, and explore different districts for specific vibes – Shibuya for trendy fashion, Ginza for luxury, and Don Quijote for absolutely everything at great prices. Happy shopping, and prepare to come home with some truly amazing treasures from Japan!
