Volleyball Workouts
Here are some volleyball workouts.
Tips
In volleyball, when you serve or hit or pass, you also use other body parts besides your arms for more power
Always stretch before playing because your shoulders get lots of stress and will be very sore if you don’t.
Hey everyone! If you're anything like me, you're always looking for ways to boost your volleyball game, especially when it comes to getting that extra lift for a block or a powerful spike. My personal journey with volleyball training has taught me that the right at-home workouts can make a huge difference, and you don't always need a fancy gym! I've put together my favorite routine that really targets those key areas for volleyball players: jumping, power, endurance, and a strong core for those game-changing serves and hits. Boosting Your Jump & Leg Power: To truly jump higher, it's all about building explosive leg strength. I always include these in my routine: Jump Squats: These are a game-changer! I start in a squat position and then explode upwards, trying to get as much air as possible. Landing softly helps protect your knees. I aim for 3 sets of 10-12 reps. Lunges: Great for building individual leg strength and balance, which is crucial for quick movements on the court. I do walking lunges or static lunges, 3 sets of 10-12 reps per leg. Donkey Kicks: While they might seem simple, these are fantastic for activating your glutes, which are a major muscle group for powerful jumps. I usually do 3 sets of 15-20 per leg. Building Your Endurance (Cardio!): Volleyball matches can be long and intense, so cardio workout is a must. I like to do these in a circuit to keep my heart rate up: Jumping Jacks: A classic for a reason! They get your whole body moving and your blood pumping. I usually do 60 seconds straight. Butt Kicks: These are amazing for warming up your hamstrings and getting that quick leg turnover. Again, 60 seconds is a good target. High Knees: For explosive leg drive and cardio, high knees are fantastic. I focus on bringing my knees up as high as I can, fast! 60 seconds of these really gets me sweating. Core Strength for Powerful Serves & Hits: Don't underestimate your core! It's the powerhouse behind powerful serves and hits. A strong core also helps with stability and injury prevention. Russian Twists: These really target your obliques, which are key for rotational power in spiking and serving. I hold a light weight (or even a water bottle!) and do 3 sets of 15-20 twists per side. Sit-ups: A good old-fashioned sit-up still works for building overall abdominal strength. I focus on controlled movements, 3 sets of 15-20. Burpees: Oh, burpees! They're tough, but they're a full-body conditioning exercise that mimics the explosive movements you make on the court. They work your core, legs, and endurance all at once. I try for 3 sets of 8-10, pushing myself. My Personal Tips for Your Volleyball Training: Always Stretch! The original article mentioned shoulders, and it's so true! But don't forget your whole body. I do dynamic stretches before (arm circles, leg swings) and static stretches after to prevent soreness and improve flexibility. Consistency is Key: I try to do these volleyball workouts 3-4 times a week. Even 30 minutes makes a difference! Listen to Your Body: If something hurts, stop. Rest days are just as important as workout days for recovery. Hydrate & Fuel: Make sure you're drinking enough water and eating well to support your training. This volleyball workout plan at home has genuinely helped me improve my game, especially with how high I can jump and the power behind my shots. Give it a try, and let me know how it boosts your volleyball conditioning workout!
