✨ What my 17-month-old eats in a day! ✨
Every day looks a little different depending on her mood (and her picky-eating toddler vibes 😂). I try to keep her meals simple, colorful, and balanced.

It's so true, every day with a 17-month-old is an adventure, especially when it comes to food! I totally get those 'picky-eating toddler vibes' mentioned in the original post. It can be so frustrating when you’ve put effort into a meal, and they just push it away. But I’ve learned a few tricks that might help fellow moms navigating this stage! First off, don’t stress too much if they don't eat a 'perfect' meal every time. Toddlers are often great at regulating their own intake. What matters most is consistency and offering a variety of healthy choices over the course of a week. For those days my little one is extra particular, I always make sure there’s at least one familiar item on her plate. For instance, if I’m trying new mixed vegetables, I’ll pair them with her beloved apple slices or a piece of sliced bread with a tiny smear of peanut butter (if no allergies!). This way, she always has something safe to eat, reducing mealtime pressure. Building on the awesome examples of meals like chicken quesadilla, I've found success by deconstructing meals. If we're having tacos, I'll offer the chicken, cheese, and a bit of avocado separately rather than in a full shell. It gives them more control and exposure to individual tastes and textures. For snacks, while puffed corn snacks are a fantastic go-to, I also love offering small portions of plain yogurt with a drizzle of honey (for toddlers over 12 months) or little cheese cubes. Mandarin orange segments are always a hit in our house too – they’re so easy for little hands! And let's talk about breakfast beyond oatmeal! Sometimes we do mini fruit smoothies with a handful of spinach (they never notice!), or scrambled eggs with a sprinkle of cheese. It’s all about rotating options so they don’t get bored and are exposed to different nutrients. Hydration is key, too! Just like the image shows my little one sipping water throughout the day, I always have her sippy cup close by. It’s amazing how much difference regular sips of water can make for their digestion and energy levels. For busy days, I’m a huge fan of simple meal prep. Baking a batch of mini muffins with veggies hidden inside, or chopping up a large amount of fruit and mixed vegetables on a Sunday, can save so much time during the week. This makes assembling those 'simple, colorful, and balanced' plates so much easier. Remember, every toddler is different, and what works for one might not work for another. It’s a journey of trial and error, but we’re all in this together! What are your tried-and-true tactics for feeding your 17-month-old? Share your wisdom!
