Book review as promised!
First off I absolutely loved this book! I soon found myself to be addicted to turning the pages cause it is just so good! It did take me a couple of months for me to read but that's due to being a biochemistry major in college. (Literally no rest for the wicked with 10 assignments it feels like due at once.)
Quick description (without spoilers!):
Grace is brought to Katmere Academy due to an unfortunate accident. There she meets the infamous Jaxon Vega, Flint, Lia, and her cousin Macy who she barely has seen. Though something seems off about the people surrounding her, especially Jaxon Vega. But while she be able to find all the answers she is looking for or will she be to distracted by the insatiable pull towards Jaxon Vega?
Please consider reading this book! It was amazing!!!!! 10/10 kind of a read in my opinion!
When I first picked up 'Crave' by Tracy Wolff, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. I'd heard bits and pieces, but nothing truly prepared me for the immersive journey I was about to embark on. Between biochemistry classes and what felt like a never-ending pile of assignments, finding time to read was a luxury, but this book quickly turned into a necessity. It’s been a while since a story has completely consumed me, making me forget about deadlines and just lose myself in its pages. The world-building in 'Crave' is just fantastic. Katmere Academy isn't just a setting; it's a character in itself, shrouded in mystery and danger. The way Tracy Wolff blends the typical boarding school trope with a unique twist on supernatural creatures felt incredibly fresh. Grace's perspective as a human thrown into a world of vampires, dragons, witches, and more is so relatable. Her confusion and fear, coupled with her unwavering determination, really resonated with me. And let's not even get started on Jaxon Vega! The brooding, enigmatic love interest is a classic, but Wolff adds so many layers to him, making his allure undeniable. Speaking of allure, the visual appeal of 'Crave' starts even before you open the book. The dark cover, featuring a stark white flower with chilling red splatters and drips, immediately grabbed my attention. That 'crave' title with the ominous red drip from the 'v' and the tagline 'Take a bite.' perfectly encapsulates the dark, addictive nature of the story within. It's a cover that promises mystery, danger, and a touch of forbidden romance, and it absolutely delivers. I remember seeing it on a friend's shelf and just being drawn to its intensity, knowing I had to pick it up. What truly makes 'Crave' special, beyond its gripping plot and compelling characters, is how it sparks your imagination. As someone who loves engaging with stories beyond just reading, I can totally see why this book inspires so much fanart. The vivid descriptions of Katmere Academy, with its gothic architecture and hidden secrets, practically beg to be drawn. The characters, from Grace's expressive nature to Jaxon's intense gaze and the distinct looks of Flint, Lia, and Macy, offer endless possibilities for artists. Imagine capturing the tension of a particular scene, or the unique powers of the different supernatural factions! I've spent time musing about what certain magical effects would look like, or how to perfectly render Jaxon’s mysterious demeanor. It’s a testament to the author’s writing that the world feels so real and visually rich, a perfect playground for creative expression. Overall, 'Crave' is more than just a vampire romance; it’s an experience. It’s the kind of book that makes you forget your responsibilities, pulls you into its world, and leaves you desperate for the next installment. If you're looking for a book that will hook you from the first page and keep you thinking about it long after you've finished, this is definitely it. I truly give it a 10/10!
