What are you reading??
Home before Dark didn’t exceed my expectations 😕 was a little disappointed
I recently finished reading 'Home Before Dark' by Riley Sager, and I wanted to share a bit more about my experience with this thriller. The story had an intriguing premise, revolving around a haunted house mystery and a protagonist uncovering dark family secrets. Initially, I was hooked by the atmospheric writing and the eerie setting, which Riley Sager manages to portray vividly. However, as I progressed, certain plot points felt predictable, and some twists didn’t have the impact I was hoping for. While the suspense was present, it occasionally lacked the intensity that makes psychological thrillers so gripping. The pacing also seemed uneven at times — some chapters felt slow and full of unnecessary details, which affected my overall engagement. That being said, if you enjoy stories with haunted house elements and a blend of modern-day investigation intertwined with past events, this book might still be an enjoyable read. It's clear the author put effort into building a mysterious atmosphere, and although it didn’t fully meet my expectations, many readers have found 'Home Before Dark' quite compelling. I recommend judging it for yourself if you’re a fan of the genre. Have you read 'Home Before Dark' yet? What did you think of the narrative and characters? I’d love to hear your thoughts and book recommendations for similar suspense novels that truly keep you on the edge of your seat.
