💜 Leave Work at Work, Sis. Your Peace Deserves to Come Home With You.
The workday may be over, but the stress doesn’t have to follow you through your front door.
As Black women, we often wear many hats—professional, mother, wife, daughter, caregiver, entrepreneur, and friend. It’s easy to carry the weight of the day long after we’ve clocked out. But your home should be your place of peace, not an extension of your workplace.
Tonight, give yourself permission to:
✨ Unplug from work emails and notifications.
🛁 Create a calming evening routine.
🚶🏾♀️ Move your body with a walk or gentle stretch.
🍵 Nourish yourself with a healthy meal or herbal tea.
📖 Read, journal, pray, or meditate.
💜 Prepare your mind and body for restful sleep.
Remember, rest is productive. When you take time to recharge, you’re better equipped to care for yourself and those you love.
At BWWC, we believe that protecting your peace is one of the greatest forms of self-care. You deserve an evening that restores your mind, body, and spirit.

After a hectic day balancing professional responsibilities and personal roles, I've found that establishing a clear transition from work mode to home mode is essential for my well-being. One powerful way to do this is by creating a transition ritual as the Black Women Wellness Collective suggests. Changing into comfortable clothes and lighting a calming candle signals to my mind that it’s time to relax. Turning off work notifications and setting my phone to 'Do Not Disturb' helps me maintain that mental boundary between work and personal life. Physical activity is another great way to leave stress behind. Whether it’s a brief walk around the neighborhood, some gentle yoga, or simple stretching at home, moving my body helps release built-up tension and lifts my mood. I often complement this with calming activities like journaling or meditating, which allow me to express my thoughts and focus on mindfulness. Nourishment is equally important—enjoying a healthy meal or sipping herbal tea creates a moment of self-care where I truly prioritize myself. Preparing for restful sleep by dimming lights and turning off screens helps me recharge fully. Rest, I’ve realized, is not a luxury but a crucial part of productivity and wellness. Incorporating these habits consistently has made a significant difference in protecting my peace and enhancing my ability to show up as my best self in all areas of life. I encourage everyone, especially fellow Black women carrying many roles, to intentionally carve out time dedicated to unwinding and restoring the mind, body, and spirit. Remember, your peace deserves to come home with you every day.
