Here are some of my favorite easy-to-implement interactive page ideas that I just believe will spark your imagination: Flip-Outs & Flaps: This is probably the easiest way to start. Simply hinge a piece of paper or cardstock to your page. You can use it to hide extra writing space, reveal a photo, or even create a layered effect. I often use these to jot down thoughts I want to keep private or to expand on a topic without cluttering the main composition of the page. Pockets & Tuck Spots: These are fantastic for storing ephemera like tickets, small photos, pressed flowers, or journaling cards. Just glue three sides of a piece of paper onto your page, leaving the top or side open. I love making themed pockets; for example, one of my recent junk journal pages has a small pocket with "BELIEVE" written on it, and inside I keep tiny slips of paper with inspiring quotes and affirmations. It’s a wonderful way to keep little treasures safe! Belly Bands: A simple strip of paper, ribbon, or fabric glued across a page (only at the ends!) can hold notes, photos, or even small booklets. You can tuck in secret notes, tiny drawings, or even a small piece of fabric. Imagine creating a series of envelopes, each holding a different memory from a special day! If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, you might try: Waterfall Cards: These are a bit more intricate but incredibly satisfying. As you pull a tab, a series of stacked flaps flips over, revealing content one by one. The "wow" factor is definitely worth the effort! Spinning Wheels/Volvelles: Attach a circular element to your page with a brad, and it can spin to reveal different information or images through a cut-out window. I've used these to create mood trackers or decision-making wheels, and even one that spins through different things I believe in, like "believe in yourself," "believe in kindness," or "believe in magic." To get started, you don't need much: just some paper (thicker cardstock works best for interactive elements), a good adhesive (my personal favorite is a strong craft glue stick or tacky glue), scissors, and a ruler.
