... Read moreOkay, so you saw my recipe for Philly Cheesesteak Tortellini Pasta with beef steak, and it's absolutely delicious, trust me! But I know a lot of you out there might be thinking, 'What if I have ground beef on hand?' or 'Can I make this even easier with ground beef?' And the answer is a resounding YES! I've experimented with a ground beef version, and it's just as comforting and quick. Philly Cheesesteak Tortellini with Ground Beef Variation: If you're like me and often have ground beef in the fridge, this tweak is super simple. Instead of thinly sliced beef steak, just use 1 pound of lean ground beef. Step 1: Brown the Ground Beef. Start by browning your ground beef in the same large skillet where you'd typically sauté the veggies. Break it up with a spoon as it cooks. Once it's fully browned, drain any excess grease. This is crucial for a less oily dish! Step 2: Add Veggies. After draining, push the ground beef to one side of the skillet (or remove it briefly if your skillet isn't large enough). Add your sliced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms to the other side. Sauté them until they're tender, then mix them in with the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper. Step 3: Simmer & Combine. Follow the rest of the original recipe: stir in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, bring to a simmer for 5 minutes. Then, reduce heat, add your cooked cheese tortellini, and toss everything together. Step 4: Melt the Cheese. Sprinkle with provolone cheese and cover until it's perfectly melted and gooey. This ground beef adaptation makes for an even heartier, more budget-friendly meal, and it cooks up just as fast! The ground beef blends beautifully with the peppers, onions, and cheese, giving you that classic Philly Cheesesteak flavor with a delightful tortellini twist. Other Quick Ground Beef & Tortellini Ideas: Beyond the Philly Cheesesteak concept, ground beef and cheese tortellini are a match made in heaven for quick weeknight meals. Here are a couple of my other go-to's: Speedy Tomato Meat Sauce Tortellini: Brown 1 lb ground beef, drain. Add a jar of your favorite marinara sauce (or a can of crushed tomatoes with Italian seasoning) and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Stir in cooked cheese tortellini and a handful of fresh spinach until wilted. Top with grated Parmesan! It's like a hug in a bowl. Creamy Tuscan Ground Beef Tortellini: Sauté 1 lb ground beef with minced garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Drain fat. Stir in 1/2 cup chicken broth, 1/2 cup heavy cream, and a handful of fresh spinach. Bring to a gentle simmer, then add cooked cheese tortellini. A sprinkle of red pepper flakes gives it a nice kick! These variations truly highlight how versatile cheese tortellini and ground beef can be together. They're perfect for meal prep too; I often make a big batch and portion it out for lunches throughout the week. So next time you're wondering what to do with that pack of ground beef, remember these delicious and easy tortellini options!
