Simple life

My interests include #photography, #spiritualreading, #painting, #meditation #spiritualhealing, and #volunteering. I believe photography is a significant way to ‘get the word out’, about God and His glory through what He has made. “God has made everything that we can know about Him clear to us through the things that He is made… even what He is like!” (Romans 1:19-20.) Every day I read some sort of Scripture, devotional works, and other spiritually educating books. Being present and intentional to join as one with the Holy Spirit and voice of Jesus Christ. While gaining knowledge my focus is on intentional reading, which supports my wisdom and understanding, creating a neutient-filled spiritual foundation. Creating the ability to listen reverently, lovingly, prayerfully, and silently to Jesus’ voice. He is speaking to us through our ability to stay present while reading, savoring Scripture, and devotional readings. Consistency in this present state connects to the Lord, for the sake of prayer, glory to the Almighty, intimacy with God, and spiritual formation; the healthy nutrient-rich soil, strong roots from the seed implanted within, branches that stretch to the sky, glowing leaves, and healthy fruit to share with others. In Psalm 119:11, David wrote, “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” When we read the Bible, its words have the power to change our perspective and our behavior. Meditation is a way to spend time with the Creator. Both Psalm 1 and Psalm 119 call people to meditate on Scripture. Psalm 1 explains that when believers meditate on God’s Word, they will be blessed with flourishing just like a tree flourishes if it is planted by continuously running water and nourished by a constant source of life. Regularly meditating on the Bible will nourish the soul. Psalm 119 explains that when people meditate on Scripture, they will be able to resist sin and live wisely, another indicator of human flourishing.

Engaging in activities such as photography not only allows us to capture the beauty of God's creation but also offers a vital means of sharing our faith. By framing our first spiritual encounters through the lens of our camera, we can visually express our acknowledgment of His glory. Additionally, reading spiritually enriching literature and Scriptures plays a fundamental role in fostering our spiritual growth. Through intentional reading every day, we can absorb profound wisdom that nurtures our souls. This practice, as noted in Psalm 119:11, emphasizes the importance of internalizing Scripture to guide our actions and prevent straying from our spiritual path. Meditation is another avenue for spiritual cultivation, as it allows us to reflect on God's words, fostering an environment conducive to personal wellness and flourishing. By setting aside moments to meditate on biblical teachings, we cultivate a disciplined heart that can resist worldly distractions and embrace divine insights. This disciplined approach transforms our lives by enabling us to embody the teachings more fully and apply them in our daily interactions. Lastly, volunteering can further enrich our lives by connecting us with others in service and community. Each of these elements—photography, reading, meditation, and volunteering—contributes to a comprehensive framework for living simply but intentionally and spiritually. Embracing these practices leads to a fulfilling life that aims not only at personal growth but also at spreading light and love to those around us.
