For a long time, this phrase felt like a lofty ideal, something I knew I should do, but struggled to practically apply amidst the busyness and demands of everyday living. It's more than just a saying; it's a profound shift in perspective and a daily decision to surrender, trusting that Jesus knows what's best for us. My journey to actively putting Jesus first really began when I started incorporating a simple prayer into my mornings, much like the one I often reflect on: "Dear Lord, I praise You and thank You for all Your goodness in my life. Every good thing in my life is from You Father God. I surrender my life into Your loving hands. Please continue to change me and mold me into Your vessel. I do believe that You will always have the best for me. Thank You for saving me and for restoring me through Your Son Jesus. Amen." This prayer became my anchor, reminding me each day of my commitment. For me, putting Jesus first means intentionally inviting Him into every aspect of my day, not just Sunday mornings. It’s about recognizing that every good thing in my life truly is from Him. One practical way I started doing this was by dedicating the first moments of my day to Him. Before checking emails or social media, I spend time in prayer, thanking God for the new day and surrendering my plans and worries to His loving hands. This practice helps to set a spiritual tone for everything that follows, allowing His peace to guide my thoughts and actions. Another crucial step has been seeking His guidance in my decisions. Whether big or small, I've learned to pause and ask, "What would honor God in this situation?" or "Is this aligned with His purpose for me?" This isn't always easy, as it often means setting aside my own desires or comfortable habits. But consistently asking Him to change me and mold me into His vessel has led to incredible clarity and a deeper sense of purpose. It means being open to His leading, even when it takes me out of my comfort zone, knowing that He will always have the best for me. It also involves cultivating a heart of gratitude. When I started consciously thanking Him for saving me and for restoring me through His Son Jesus, I began to see blessings in places I once overlooked. This practice transforms my outlook, turning complaints into praise and anxiety into trust. Even in challenges, I remind myself of His faithfulness and past victories, strengthening my belief that He is truly God and He has my back. It’s a constant reminder that I am a woman in Christ, living for His glory. Of course, putting Jesus first isn't a one-time decision; it's a continuous process. There are days when I stumble, when my own will tries to take over. But through prayer, scripture, and connecting with other Christians, I find the strength to realign myself. The promise of restoration through Jesus keeps me going, reminding me that His grace is sufficient. Embracing this journey has brought a profound sense of victory in Christ, a peace that surpasses understanding, and a clear understanding of God's purpose for my life.
