Hope is not a wish. It is an anchor. And it will hold you through anything.

We have confused hope with optimism. Optimism says I think things will work out. Hope says I know who holds the outcome and I am anchored to Him regardless of what I see.

That is a completely different thing.

Wishful thinking crumbles when the doctor’s report is bad. It disappears when the relationship ends. It fades when the prayer goes unanswered for the third year in a row.

But Biblical hope? It does not move. Because it is not attached to circumstances. It is attached to a promise. And God has never once broken a promise.

This is why you can have hope in the middle of uncertainty. This is why you can have peace when the world is falling apart around you. This is why you can smile through a hard season without pretending everything is fine.

Your anchor is holding. Even when you cannot feel it.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” Hebrews 6:19 (NIV)

Firm. Secure. Not maybe. Not sometimes. Always.
