What y’all think- Japan or stay in NYC

Like, seriously, the thought of exploring Tokyo's electric streets and soaking in the rich culture of Japan has been calling my name. But then there's the other side of me, the one that whispers, 'Stay that ass in NYC.' You know, the comfort of home, my routine, my friends, everything I've built here. It's a real tug-of-war! On one hand, Japan just seems like an incredible adventure waiting to happen. I've been dreaming about trying authentic ramen in a tiny Tokyo alley, getting lost in the futuristic glow of Shibuya, and maybe even taking a bullet train to Kyoto to see ancient temples. The idea of a completely new environment, learning a few Japanese phrases, and pushing myself out of my comfort zone feels incredibly exciting. I imagine the food alone would be a journey for my taste buds! Plus, I've heard so much about how safe and clean Japan is, which is a huge draw for a solo traveler like me. It feels like a chance for a major personal reset and a whole lot of growth. But then, the thought of leaving New York City... it's hard. NYC isn't just a place; it's a part of who I am. The endless opportunities, the diversity, the vibrant arts scene, the way you can literally find anything at any time. My friends are here, my favorite coffee shops are here, my career path is here. It's stable, it's familiar, and it's exhilarating in its own way. The thought of starting completely fresh somewhere new, dealing with visas, finding a new apartment, and navigating a different language and social norms feels a little overwhelming at times. Is it worth trading the known for the unknown? I've been going back and forth, weighing the pros and cons. Is it a long-term move I'm considering, or just an extended trip? What about the cost of living in Tokyo compared to NYC? Does anyone have experience moving to Japan from the US? How did you deal with the culture shock? For those who've done long-term travel, what made you decide to take the leap? Or, if you've chosen to stay and build your life in a big city like NYC, what are your reasons? I'm really trying to figure out if it's the right time for such a huge change. Part of me hears that little voice saying, 'Do it!日本に行く,' urging me to embrace the adventure. Another part wants to hold onto the amazing life I have here. Any advice, personal stories, or even just a strong opinion would be so appreciated! Help a girl out – Japan or stay in NYC?
