Let’s Talk About Your Value for a Second
Because whew… I had to remind myself of this today, and I know somebody else needs it too.
For years, I thought something was wrong with me because certain people couldn’t see my worth. I twisted myself into knots trying to be more, do more, prove more… all to get validation from people who didn’t even have the capacity to appreciate what I brought to the table.
But here’s what I’m learning:
Their inability to see my value never erased it.
Not even a little.
And friend, that’s true for you too.
Sometimes people are too distracted, too wounded, too self-focused, or too limited to recognize the gem in front of them. That has nothing to do with your worth and everything to do with their vision.
Come sit with me if you’ve ever felt overlooked—you’re not alone.
Your value didn’t disappear just because someone else couldn’t recognize it. It was always there. It’s still there now. And you deserve to be in spaces that see it.

It's important to remember that our self-worth should never be dictated by the opinions or recognition from others. Many times, people fail to see our value not because it isn't there, but because they are distracted by their own limitations or struggles. This can leave us feeling overlooked and undervalued, which can deeply affect our confidence and mental health. The phrase "Their inability to see your value never erased it" is a powerful reminder that your worth exists independently of external validation. Instead of trying to constantly prove yourself to people who may never appreciate what you bring, it’s healthier to focus on environments and relationships that celebrate your authentic self. Mental health awareness plays a crucial role here. Feeling unrecognized can contribute to feelings of loneliness and self-doubt, but it helps to remember that many others share similar experiences. Building a support system and engaging in communities that uplift and empower you can help restore your sense of worth. Moreover, career advice often highlights the significance of self-value in professional growth. When you truly understand your strengths and worth, you are more likely to seek opportunities where you are valued, leading to a more satisfying and balanced career journey. Practicing self-compassion and mindfulness can help you reconnect with your intrinsic value. Try to affirm your unique qualities and achievements regularly, recognizing that your contributions are meaningful regardless of others’ perceptions. Ultimately, everyone deserves to be in spaces—whether personal or professional—where their value is seen and celebrated. So, if you’ve ever felt overlooked or unappreciated, know that your worth remains intact. Embrace that truth, and seek out those who recognize the gem you are.
