Still Here. Still Held.

Faith didn’t silence my depression.

And honestly, I used to feel guilty admitting that.

Like if I believed “right,” prayed longer, or stayed grateful enough, the heaviness would just disappear.

It didn’t.

But faith did remind me I wasn’t abandoned inside it.

On the days my mind felt loud, heavy, and tired, faith wasn’t a magic mute button.

It was a quiet presence saying, You’re not alone in this.

Not broken.

Not forgotten.

Not failing God because you’re struggling.

Some days faith looks like worship.

Other days it looks like getting out of bed, going to therapy, and asking for help without shame.

Faith didn’t cure my depression.

It kept me connected while I learned how to live with it, treat it, and keep choosing myself anyway.

And that reminder?

That I’m still held, even here.

That changed everything.

... Read moreLiving with depression can be an isolating experience, but faith often serves as a quiet anchor amid the chaos. Although faith doesn't act as a cure or instantly erase the heaviness, it can remind us that we are not abandoned, even on the hardest days. This presence supports mental health by providing hope and a sense of companionship. Many people mistakenly believe that stronger faith or more prayer should instantly resolve their struggles. However, the reality is more nuanced. Faith, rather than being a magical solution, often takes the form of a steady, gentle presence—a reminder that you're not alone, not broken, and not failing. This perspective can alleviate the shame often associated with mental health issues, encouraging openness and self-compassion. Practical actions such as attending therapy, getting out of bed, or reaching out for help without shame are powerful expressions of faith in themselves. They demonstrate courage and a commitment to healing, highlighting that faith can coexist with medical and psychological treatment, working in harmony to support overall well-being. Support communities that integrate faith and mental health awareness provide safe spaces where individuals can share their experiences openly. They help break the stigma surrounding depression within faith communities and emphasize that seeking professional help is compatible with spiritual beliefs. Recognizing that faith holds you during struggles can transform the experience of depression. Instead of feeling abandoned or defeated, you can feel held and supported, even when challenges persist. Such a mindset fosters resilience and encourages ongoing self-care and recovery, reminding us all that being "still held" is a powerful source of strength and hope.
