This Isn’t Wasted Time. It’s Sacred Setup.
Waiting doesn’t feel holy.
It feels quiet. Awkward. Like everyone else got the memo except me.
But I’m learning that what feels like delay is often God doing deep prep work.
Shaping my discernment. Stretching my faith. Teaching me patience I didn’t ask for but definitely need.
I’m a therapist who has a therapist, and even I have to remind myself: growth doesn’t rush. Healing doesn’t perform. And purpose doesn’t panic.
So if I’m waiting, I’m not failing.
I’m being prepared.
And honestly? I’d rather be ready than rushed.

What feels like wailing or waiting is often a profound phase of preparation for what lies ahead. Many of us find waiting uncomfortable, even frustrating, because it feels silent and isolating—as if everyone else has moved forward while we remain stuck. Yet, this quiet time is vital for deep prep work that shapes our discernment, stretches our faith, and teaches us patience, all crucial for holistic healing and growth. This concept of sacred waiting is not just a spiritual idea but also resonates with psychological insights. Just like physical healing requires rest and time, mental and emotional growth often unfolds in hidden moments of patience and reflection. Being ‘prepared’ rather than rushed ensures that when the right time comes, we can fully step into our purpose with clarity and strength. Importantly, sacred waiting challenges the modern urge for instant results and perfection. It reminds us that true healing doesn’t follow a strict timeline nor does it require constant performance. Instead, it evolves through gentle, sometimes uncomfortable, inner work—learning to accept uncertainty and trusting the process. Therapists and faith leaders alike emphasize that ‘waiting’ phases provide an invaluable opportunity for self-awareness and intentional growth. During these times, we develop resilience and deepen our connection to what truly matters, whether it is faith, mental health, or personal goals. Recognizing waiting as sacred setup empowers us to shift perspective—from seeing delays as failures to accepting them as essential preparation periods. By embracing this mindset, we build patience and maintain hope, ultimately aiding our journey towards healing and a fulfilled purpose. Remember, being ready beats being rushed every time.
