When My Life Feels Disordered and Unraveling

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God.”

—Romans 8:28

There are moments when life feels scattered plans undone, relationships strained, emotions tangled, dreams delayed. It can feel like nothing fits anymore.

This verse does not deny the mess. It acknowledges it. God does not call everything good. He calls Himself working in everything.

God’s control is often revealed in how He weaves what feels broken into something redemptive. He does not waste pain. He does not ignore confusion. He gathers the loose threads and begins a work you cannot yet see.

What feels like disorder now may one day become testimony. Trust that God is still arranging what you cannot.

“To those who trust in Him, God will work out all things for good.”

—Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 689

... Read moreLife often brings unexpected challenges that can leave us feeling disordered and overwhelmed. In my experience, embracing faith has been a crucial anchor during these turbulent times. The verse from Romans 8:28 reminds us that even when plans unravel and emotions run high, God is actively working behind the scenes for our good. It's important to acknowledge the mess rather than denying it. This honesty allows us to be vulnerable and gives space for healing. Personally, I have found that accepting the unsettling moments as part of a greater plan helped me shift my perspective. Instead of focusing on confusion and pain, I began to see these moments as threads that would eventually be woven into a story of redemption. Trusting God's timing is often the hardest yet most rewarding part. When relationships feel strained or dreams are delayed, holding onto the belief that God gathers loose threads to create something meaningful can bring immense comfort. This process requires patience and faith, understanding that the perfect picture is not yet visible but is being orchestrated. Additionally, sharing such experiences with a community of faith has strengthened my journey. Engaging in conversations and reading uplifting spiritual books provided support and insights that reaffirmed God's faithfulness. The quote from Patriarchs and Prophets emphasizing that God works out all things for good to those who trust in Him has been a beacon during dark hours. Ultimately, what may seem like disorder now often becomes a powerful testimony of resilience and divine grace. Living through these seasons cultivates deeper trust, spiritual growth, and a renewed sense of hope that can inspire others facing similar struggles. Embracing this perspective not only nurtures personal peace but also enriches our faith community’s collective strength.

Should you fast as a Christian who struggles with disordered eating?
this is a nuanced conversation, and i think it deserves more honesty. fasting is a beautiful spiritual discipline, but it’s not one-size-fits-all. especially if you’ve walked through disordered eating. God cares about your heart, not just your habits. and if fasting from food would pull yo
