Friday Reset: I Don’t Need to Rush My Becoming
I spent so much of my life feeling like I was running out of time.
Like I needed to heal faster.
Figure things out quicker.
Be more productive.
Be more successful.
Be more emotionally “together” by now.
And honestly, that pressure followed me into every area of my life.
Even rest started feeling like something I had to earn.
But lately, I’ve been learning that growth does not always happen in movement. Sometimes it happens in the pause. In the quiet. In the moments where I finally stop performing survival mode long enough to hear myself think.
I am realizing that becoming is not a race.
There is wisdom in slowing down enough to notice what my body has been trying to say. There is healing in giving myself permission to breathe before I break. There is strength in no longer measuring my worth by how exhausted I am.
This Friday, I am reminding myself that rest is not laziness. Reflection is not weakness. Softness is not failure.
I do not need to have every answer today.
I do not need to carry everything perfectly.
I do not need to punish myself for being human.
I can take my time becoming who I am meant to be.
So today, I am choosing grace over pressure.
Presence over performance.
Peace over proving.
And maybe that is growth too.

Taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your future, as highlighted in the Social Wellness Series. I've personally found that giving myself permission to pause and reflect has made a huge difference in my emotional and mental well-being. Instead of pushing through exhaustion, I started to listen to my body's signals and realized that growth doesn't always come from doing more, but often from allowing space for healing. When we rush our becoming, we might miss out on valuable insights that come from quiet moments and self-reflection. In my experience, choosing grace over pressure has helped me find peace during challenging times. It's important to remember that rest and softness don't equate to failure—they are essential components of sustainable growth. If you feel overwhelmed by societal expectations to fix everything quickly or always perform, try shifting your mindset. Celebrate small wins, honor your pace, and trust that your journey is unique. Embracing this approach can reduce burnout and foster a deeper connection with yourself. Moreover, cultivating patience strengthens your resilience and encourages a more compassionate relationship with your emotions. Next time you feel pressured, take a moment to breathe and remind yourself that becoming is a process, not a race. This mindset shift has been a transformative practice for me and can offer you the same freedom and peace in your personal growth journey.
