Apparently some people had found her as a Stray tied up to a tree. The people took her in and kept her outside. Literally they written on the papers “She is so chill” they weren’t wrong she has energy when she wants but it’s not excessive. She is pretty chill which I don’t mind. She is 11 weeks and day old and she’s been at the shelter since May 14. So sadly she’s almost been in the shelter for nearly a month. I so happened to check the website last night, and instantly saw her and I felt instant connection. I literally started buying everything. Baby proofing the whole house and making sure she would feel like home. Once I’ve signed papers; I was able to be in a room with her and we both had that instant connection. She came over to me and laid on her back exposing her belly for me to pet her as if she already trusted me. So I officially adopted my baby girl Luna and she’s an absolute sweetheart. She is still recovering from Kennel Cough that she did get from being in the shelter and also healing from her stitches from getting spayed several days ago so I’m trying to make sure she keeps it easy. So far she seems to love it here with me. She follows me around everywhere already and I feel like an official dog mom. As I write these words she is literally lying against me with her head on my knee 🥰🥰 I hope she decompresses well over the course of time ❤️❤️🐾🐾 Luna sends her love to everyone!! She has so much to give to this world!! 🫶🏼❤️

... Read moreYou know, when I saw Luna's picture online, my heart just melted. But getting ready for her arrival was a whole other adventure! I literally spent days baby-proofing the house, making sure every corner was safe for a curious pup. I bought her the coziest bed you can imagine, a pile of squeaky toys (her favorites are the crinkly ones!), food specifically recommended by the shelter, sturdy bowls, a comfortable harness, and a leash. I even got a little playpen to give her a safe space when I couldn't have my eyes on her every second, especially since she was recovering. I wanted her to feel right at home the moment she walked through the door.
The day I went to pick her up was truly unforgettable. After signing all the papers, which felt like an eternity, they finally brought me to a quiet room where she was waiting. That moment she came over, sniffed my hand, and then flopped onto her back, exposing her belly for pets – it was pure magic. It felt like she was saying, 'Okay, I trust you.' The ride home was surprisingly calm; she just snuggled into her soft blanket in the car seat, occasionally peeking out with those big, soulful eyes.
Those first few days were a mix of pure joy and some very careful nursing. Recovering from kennel cough and her spay surgery meant keeping her quiet and comfortable was paramount. It wasn't always easy to keep an energetic puppy still, but we managed with lots of gentle cuddles and short, supervised potty breaks. I learned quickly how important it is to follow vet instructions to the letter and to be incredibly patient with their recovery. Administering her medication, keeping her incision clean, and making sure she didn't overdo it became my top priorities. There were moments of worry, seeing her cough or move a little gingerly, but seeing her wag her tail and slowly regain her puppy bounce made it all worth it.
Establishing a routine was absolutely key to helping her settle in. We quickly set up her feeding times, made sure she had constant access to fresh water, and started working on potty training right away. I took her out every couple of hours, especially after waking up and eating, and praised her lavishly when she did her business outside. It's amazing how quickly they learn when you're consistent and positive! She quickly figured out where her cozy bed was and where her food came from. Every day, her adorable personality shines through a little more. She's become my little shadow, following me from room to room, and her tiny snores when she's asleep next to me are the sweetest sound.
If you're considering adopting, my biggest advice is to be prepared for both the immense, unconditional love and the significant responsibilities. It’s a commitment, but the bond you form is unlike anything else. Be patient, be loving, and cherish every single moment, even the challenging ones. Luna has brought so much light, laughter, and warmth into my life, and watching her decompress and truly feel safe and loved has been the most rewarding experience imaginable. She sends big, happy tail wags to everyone out there who might be thinking of opening their heart and home to a rescue!
She's beautiful! ❤️
