Redecorating help!
It’s a work in progress for the girls .. what else could I do besides wall art could I do to make my young adults happy with their bedroom
Okay, so tackling a young adult bedroom redecoration can feel like a huge project, right? I'm currently in the thick of it for my girls, and beyond just picking out new wall art, I've realized there's so much more to consider to truly make them happy with their space. One thing that became clear quickly is dealing with all their stuff! Before even thinking about new décor, decluttering is a must. Seriously, it's a game-changer. I found that having dedicated 'keep,' 'donate,' and 'toss' piles helped immensely. For the 'keep' items that don't have a home yet or need to be stored during the actual redecorating, I've been eyeing some temporary storage solutions. Have you ever used those clear plastic bins? They're amazing for seeing what's inside, and they stack up neatly. For larger items, or if you're doing a complete overhaul, even a small, temporary storage unit can be a lifesaver to keep everything out of the way. I'm thinking about setting aside a corner of the garage, or maybe even investing in some sturdy moving boxes to keep things organized until the room is ready. Now, for those 'otra opcion' type ideas beyond just art – there's a whole world of possibilities! Since my girls already have a base of light purple sheets and *teal/purple leopard print comforters*, I'm focusing on complementary elements. Lighting: Beyond a basic ceiling light, adding fairy lights around a bed frame or a stylish desk lamp can completely change the mood. Maybe a cool floor lamp in a corner? Textiles: We already have purple curtains and a grey fluffy rug between their beds, which adds softness. But what about throw blankets in different textures or fun throw pillows? These are easy to swap out and completely refresh the look. Functional Furniture: My girls' beds have *dark frames*, but perhaps adding headboards with built-in shelves or under-bed storage drawers could be a fantastic way to maximize space. A multi-functional ottoman or a beanbag chair can add extra seating and a pop of color. Personal Touches: Instead of just framed art, think about a magnetic board for photos and memorabilia, or a small gallery wall of their own artwork. For young adults, incorporating elements related to their hobbies – a designated reading nook, a small desk for creative projects – can make the room feel truly theirs. Plants: Even a few low-maintenance plants can bring life and freshness into a room. Succulents or a small pothos are great for a young adult's room – hard to kill! Color Scheme Expansion: With purple and teal as primary colors from their bedding, exploring complementary shades or adding a neutral like grey (which ties into the *grey fluffy rug*) can create a balanced and sophisticated look without being too overwhelming. I'm really hoping these ideas will help create a space where they feel comfortable and happy. What other brilliant ideas have you used to redecorate a young adult's bedroom? Especially for storage or unique touches that aren't just wall hangings!
