Smooth Start: ADHD Morning Routine for Women
Hey there, fabulous ladies! Let's dive into crafting a morning routine specifically tailored for dynamic women navigating life with ADHD. I understand the challenges that come with managing ADHD symptoms while balancing career, relationships, and everything in between. So, let's equip ourselves with a morning routine that sets us up for success and empowers us to conquer the day ahead.
📌 no phone for at least 1 hr after waking up!
📍 1. Consistency is Key:
Establish a consistent wake-up time to kickstart your day on the right foot. Consistency works wonders for managing ADHD symptoms and maintaining energy levels throughout the day. It can be so hard to wake up, so make it a habit!
Hot tip, move your phone far away from you and set the alarm. I haven’t tried a sunlamp alarm yet but I hear good things.
📍 2. Hydration, Your Secret Weapon:
Start your morning with a tall glass of water with a pinch of natural salt to replenish your body and maintain focus and mental clarity. Our adhd brains need water so badly!
Hot tip, get a cute water bottle with a straw!
📍 3. Move Your Body, Energize Your Mind: Jumpstart your morning with movement that speaks to you, whether it's Pilates, a brisk walk, or a dance session. Movement boosts mood and sharpens focus. This doesn’t have to be your main workout of the day, but it should be a minimum of 15 mins.
Hot tip, I start with walking my dogs and then doing a little home kettlebell workout. I make it my workout appetizer. The hardest part for me is starting. I never feel like it but once I start, I really want to. So I was thinking of this as getting my appetite going for working out.
📍 4. Fuel Your Brain with Nutrient-Rich Foods: Nourish your brain with breakfast options like protein-rich eggs, avocado, toast, or a nutrient-packed smoothie with high protein.
Hot tip, a high protein breakfast has been shown to really help the ADHD!
📍 5. Time with Jesus:
Spend time in prayer, worship, Bible reading, and journaling to center your mind and spirit for the day ahead. Consider incorporating morning pages to clear your mind through free writing for 15 minutes.
Hot tip, I try and do this 1st, before anyone is awake and when there is the smallest chance of distraction. I keep notes and highlight my Bible, this helps me stay focused. Also, pray and ask God to give you focus and energy!!
📍 6. Master Your Schedule:
Take charge of your day by mapping out tasks and priorities, setting clear goals, and using tools like planners or digital apps to stay organized and focused.
Hot tip, Plan your day the night before, and then go over the calendar and plan before you start your day! I put my planner on the wall!
📍 7. Embrace Your Morning Glow-Up:
Treat yourself to a refreshing shower, a simple skincare routine, and an outfit that boosts confidence. Self-care sets a positive tone for the day. When you feel good you do good!
Hot tip, get ready in the morning… this will make you want to do things. Not sure why, but it works!
📍 8. Minimize Distractions, Maximize Productivity: Create a distraction-free environment to foster concentration. Set boundaries with technology and declutter your space.
Hot tip, If you still can’t seem to focus, go to a new location like a coffee shop! The excitement of a new location with boost your dopamine and the pressure of people being there will make you productive!
📍 9. Gratitude for Growth:
Reflect on something you're grateful for to shift your perspective and infuse your day with positivity and resilience.
Hot tip, have a mid day gratitude journal moment or day it out loud!
