As a huge fan of One Piece, I've often wondered about Luffy's abilities beyond the anime world. In the show, Luffy's rubber body lets him deflect punches and even blunt weapons, making him almost invincible. But considering real-world physics, things get complicated. Bullets, for example, travel at extremely high speeds and carry immense kinetic energy—enough to penetrate materials like ballistic gelatin, which simulates human tissue. Unlike in One Piece, where rubber can absorb or bounce impacts, in reality, rubber would deform but not reliably stop a bullet. It may reduce damage slightly, but invincibility isn't guaranteed. Moreover, while Luffy's body is highly elastic, rapid impacts cause heat and structural stress that real human tissue can't endure. The blunt force from powerful attacks could still cause serious internal injury despite external flexibility. That said, the concept of rubber's elasticity does inspire many protective gear designs, showing some practical value. Imagining Luffy in a real fight makes me appreciate the blend of fantasy and science fiction in anime—even if his powers wouldn't render him truly invincible outside that world. In short, while Luffy's rubber abilities make for amazing battles and visuals on screen, real-world physics suggest he wouldn't be entirely immune to harm.
