July worth remembering
For my birthday, I had the most enjoyable time surrounded by friends and family.
I watched a few movies, including The Odyssey, Toy Story, and Spider-Man. I also explored several thrift shops throughout Austin, Lockhart, Kennedy, and New Braunfels, and spent a relaxing day with friends at Canyon Lake.
This birthday season felt spontaneous, peaceful, and full of little adventures. I haven’t shared much here lately, so I thought I’d take a moment to catch you up.
One of my favorite finds was a Gone With the Wind record for only $10. I also discovered incredible pieces of history—from medieval artifacts and Greek-inspired warrior armor to one display that featured what looked like a vintage vampire hunting and exorcism kit. It was such an unexpected find and one of those moments that made me stop and appreciate the strange, fascinating stories history leaves behind.
To end the month, I wrote a birthday poem for myself titled The Earth Is Not Finished With You—a reminder that every new year is another beginning, and that there is still so much life waiting to be lived.
Celebrating birthdays in such a spontaneous and peaceful way truly highlights the value of embracing small adventures that life offers. Exploring thrift shops in places like Austin, Lockhart, Kennedy, and New Braunfels is a wonderful way to connect with local history and uncover fascinating artifacts that tell stories from different eras. Finding a Gone With the Wind record for just $10 is not only a great bargain but also a meaningful piece of nostalgia that adds a personal touch to any collection. Spending time outdoors at places like Canyon Lake offers the perfect balance between nature’s tranquility and shared moments with friends. It’s during these quiet yet joyful experiences that we often find the clarity to appreciate where we are in life and the possibilities ahead. Writing a birthday poem such as "The Earth Is Not Finished With You" powerfully captures the idea that each year is a fresh start, full of potential and growth. From my own experience, blending a mix of leisure activities like watching beloved movies with hunting for unique treasures enriches the birthday celebration, making it memorable beyond the usual festivities. The excitement of stumbling upon historical items—from medieval relics to an unexpected vampire hunting kit—adds an element of wonder and curiosity, reminding us that history can be full of surprises. For anyone looking to make their birthday or any special occasion more meaningful, I recommend embracing both relaxation and exploration. Visit your local thrift shops, indulge in some cinematic classics, and spend quality time with loved ones outdoors. Taking a moment to reflect and create something personal, like a poem or journal entry, can also provide a profound sense of purpose and connection with yourself as you move forward into the next chapter of life.
