It’s hard to put into words the sting of being told you’re insignificant, or that your experiences don’t matter. For so long, I carried the weight of those dismissive voices, feeling like I had no 'standing' or right to speak up. It led to a deep sense of worthlessness, a quiet ache that followed me everywhere. But slowly, I started to realize that my voice, my experiences, and my feelings are valid – no matter what anyone else tries to tell me. One strategy that really helped me was finding ways to assert my boundaries, even if it was just to myself at first. I remember seeing an image, a powerful visual of a black notebook with a poem titled 'Listen Here, Jack-ass' scrawled inside in colorful ink. It wasn't about being aggressive, but about reclaiming power and strength. It resonated deeply. That act of writing, of putting down exactly how I felt and what I wouldn't tolerate anymore, was incredibly therapeutic. It was like finally giving myself permission to say, 'Enough.' It’s a way of saying, 'My well-being matters.' Don't let anyone convince you that your past defines your future, or that you don't have the courage to speak your truth. Embrace that 'Be Bold' spirit. Learn to set clear boundaries and communicate them firmly. It’s not always easy, but each 'no' you say to what harms you is a 'yes' to your own healing and empowerment.
