From my personal experience, I’ve found that closure truly is a decision rather than something that naturally occurs through conversation alone. Often, when we seek closure after a hurtful event or betrayal, we look for a clear conclusion or explanation from the other person. However, as emphasized by the idea that "the disrespect was the closure," sometimes the absence of respect or acknowledgment from another party serves as the final signal that a relationship or situation is over. Understanding closure this way requires us to shift our mindset from expecting external validation to cultivating internal awareness and acceptance. Being "perspicacious, intuitive, and aware" helps us recognize when further conversations or explanations are no longer productive. Instead, closure becomes an intentional act of self-care, where we choose to let go and move forward despite unanswered questions or unresolved feelings. In my journey, I also noticed the psychological roots of this process. Disrespect or betrayal can plant seeds of emotional pain that need to be acknowledged and healed. Recognizing these "psychological roots" helps in understanding behavior—both our own and others'. This conscious choice empowers us to release past hurt and reclaim our peace, marking a genuine end and a new beginning. I recommend reflecting on moments where you felt the conversation was insufficient, and consider if the disrespect or lack of response was actually your signal to make the decision to move on. It may feel uncomfortable at first, but deciding on closure can be the most generous act you do for your own mental and emotional wellbeing.
