South of France Vacation in 📍Marseille

I visited Marseille for the first time last year and it was a quick flight from Paris. It was my first time in the South of France and I would definitely go back for all of these things below.

🌊 The beach was so great to visit and the water was clear as day! It was a pretty small beach, compared to what I’m used to in California, but I managed to take the bus there, enjoy some sun, and grab a quick lunch at a nearby restaurant.

☀️ The Old Town was a few tram stops away from my hotel and I loved the pier and sunset view while enjoying dinner. There are local vendors that sell various items, chain & local restaurants, and musicians nearby. I loved the relaxing vibe of the evening and went twice while I was there.

🛍️ My hotel was also close to a mall, which was totally unexpected so I did do some shopping while I was in town, in between relaxing in the sun at the hotel pool and spa. There aren’t alot of spa options here, but some hotels do have them available.

I am excited to explore more of the South of France in the future.

... Read moreMarseille is a vibrant city in the South of France, known for its stunning beaches and rich history. When planning your trip, consider visiting the iconic Vieux-Port (Old Port), which offers beautiful views and a plethora of local dining options. Seafood lovers will appreciate the fresh fish served at many nearby restaurants, while fans of local delicacies should try the famous bouillabaisse, a traditional Provençal fish stew. Be sure to explore the Calanques National Park, a breathtaking natural landscape with turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs, perfect for hiking and swimming. Take advantage of the local public transport to reach hidden gems along the coast. For those interested in culture, the timeless Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde provides stunning panoramic views of Marseille, just a short walk from the city center. Shopping in Marseille can be a delightful experience thanks to a mix of local boutiques and larger malls. Make time to wander through Le Panier, the oldest district, lined with colorful houses and artisan shops. Combine your shopping adventures with a visit to local markets, where you can find handcrafted goods. As night falls, experience Marseille’s bustling nightlife with local bars featuring live music or simply enjoy a leisurely dinner by the waterfront, soaking in the sunset and atmosphere. With countless activities and sights to see, Marseille truly encapsulates the charm and spirit of Southern France.
