Colorful upcycled pants craft 🌸♻️🌈
I’m always looking for creative new ways to upcycle. In this case, I had a pair of linen pants that I hadn’t worn in years and were screaming at me to give them a revamp. ♻️
For this craft, and I cannot stress it enough, put down a cover on your work surface. Something substantial like cardboard or plastic because the ink will stain.
As far as materials, we need:
-fabric (cotton, linen, or bamboo)
-sharpie markers,
-isopropyl alcohol (ideally in a spray bottle),
-a glass, and
-an elastic or other way to secure the fabric over the top of the glass. (I used a strap wrench because I’d recently had a stubborn jar of pickles 🥒).
Once you’ve stretched the fabric over the mouth of the glass and secured it with the elastic, go ahead and doodle away! When done drawing, spray liberally with isopropyl alcohol to cause the color to run. The pint glass will keep the design circular.
Let dry somewhat between doodles to avoid unwanted running. When you’re satisfied with your design, hang dry. Then, to set the color, put in the dryer on high for 15 minutes or iron for about 5. Wash cold, gentle cycle and hang dry to keep the colors vibrant. 🎨
