Break The Rules!!!!
Pop art style✅️ Bad lighting✅️ Thick solid colors✅️ Only working one area at a time✅️
In my journey as an artist, I've found that deliberately breaking the rules offers a refreshing burst of creativity that conventional techniques simply don't provide. For instance, embracing a pop art style means using bold, flat, solid colors, which I initially thought might limit detail but instead encouraged me to focus on composition and contrast. One 'rule' I broke was working only one area at a time—a method my art professor disapproved of. However, focusing on each segment individually helped me dive deeper into color blending and texture within a confined space. This approach, combined with intentionally poor or unconventional lighting, pushed me to rethink how shadows and highlights affect the overall mood of the piece. While many artists strive for perfect lighting and smooth gradients, I learned that 'bad lighting' can add mystery or an eerie feel to horror-themed art, enhancing the emotional impact. This ties well with the #horrorartist theme and can invoke more visceral reactions from viewers. I encourage fellow creators to experiment freely, whether it's in a DIY spirit or by adopting pop art elements. Sometimes, breaking the rules allows you to discover your unique style and voice. Remember, art is about expression, not perfection—so don’t be afraid to push boundaries and see what surprises come your way!
