Welp… that was a flop 😓
So I made my first ever attempt at a hexagon cardigan and I was so proud of myself…
At first! 😣
Once I got the gist of it, I was doing ok. But the more I kept going and trying it on, I knew it wasn’t exactly shaping up to look right lol! 😅
I see what others are doing and it always comes out looking glorious, so I’m wondering where I went wrong here.🫢
I didn’t want to continue and see how long I could make it. I didn’t want to waste yarn but also I need to revisit the logistics of this.
Oh well, part of learning I guess… 🤷🏽♀️
If you have any recommendations tips or suggestions, please drop it in the comments and help a sista out ☺️🧶
Stay groovy! ✌🏽🌻💛

Trying a new crochet project like a hexagon cardigan can be both exciting and challenging. From my first try, I realized that shaping a hexagon cardigan perfectly requires understanding the pattern geometry and ensuring tension consistency throughout the project. One tip I found useful from other crafters is to frequently check the stitch count and measure as you crochet, so the cardigan keeps a balanced shape. It’s also important to choose yarn that complements the pattern's structure; sometimes the weight or stretchiness of the yarn can affect how the hexagon shapes come together. Moreover, blocking the pieces before assembling can help to smooth out any irregularities and give the cardigan a more polished look. Don’t hesitate to use stitch markers or row counters to keep track of your progress, especially in more complex shapes like hexagons. Mistakes are part of the creative learning process. Instead of viewing your unfinished piece as a flop, consider it a valuable step towards mastering new crochet skills. I’ve come to appreciate that revisiting the logistics and making adjustments helps build confidence and eventually leads to beautiful, wearable projects. If you’re experimenting with crochet cardigans, don’t hesitate to seek online tutorials, join crochet communities, and ask for feedback. Sharing your journey helps connect with others who can offer fresh ideas and support. What worked for me might work for you too—so keep experimenting, and happy crocheting!
