It’s a lazy Sunday… let’s crochet! 🧶
I sometimes take a break when I do a project that takes longer.
It can get pretty monotonous making an endless string of HDCs 😓
So I breakaway to do something else for a bit. Could be boredom or my undiagnosed ADHD, I dunno 🤷🏽♀️
I like to do a quick granny square pattern here and there. But that eventually serves me later when I need granny squares to do a bigger project; they’re already made! 😃
This design came with the skein so it was easy to make… and quick. I have a few more to make. Not sure what I’ll use them for, I’ll get to that later.
What is your favorite small project?
Let me know, I could use a few ideas to try as well.☺️
Stay groovy! ✌🏽🌻💛

When I dive into lengthy crochet projects, I often find my mind wandering or feeling the need to switch things up. Taking breaks with smaller, more manageable creations like granny squares not only helps me stay refreshed but also keeps my creativity flowing. Granny squares are wonderfully versatile—they're quick to make and can later be combined into larger blankets, scarves, or even home decor items. This approach has been a lifesaver, especially on those lazy Sundays when I want to feel productive but not overwhelmed. Using yarn skeins with complementary colors also adds a fun dimension, making it easier to mix and match patterns later on. Plus, experimenting with granny squares is an excellent way to learn and practice new stitches without the pressure of committing to a large project. If you ever feel the monotony of repeating stitches in dense projects like half double crochets (HDC), I highly recommend incorporating quick, engaging patterns to break the rhythm. They make crochet feel less like a chore and more like a joyful hobby. Also, don't hesitate to try varying your patterns—small projects like coasters, pincushions, or even simple stuffed toys can provide similar creative refreshment. Lastly, I've noticed that alternating projects not only fights boredom but actually improves my overall crochet skills because I get to experiment with different techniques and yarn types. So next time you feel stuck mid-project, pick up some granny squares or any small project to keep the rhythm and excitement alive in your crochet journey!
