... Read moreWorking in construction as a woman has become an increasingly rewarding experience, despite the historical challenges this industry has posed. Being part of a traditionally male-dominated field, I've seen firsthand how women bring unique perspectives and skills that enhance teamwork, innovation, and safety on-site. Throughout my journey, embracing roles from project management to on-site supervision, I've noticed that support networks and mentorship programs tailored for women can make a significant impact. They provide encouragement, resources, and knowledge sharing that help overcome biases and build confidence. Moreover, companies that actively promote gender diversity tend to enjoy higher productivity and creativity, strengthening project outcomes. Personally, participating in initiatives tagged #ThingsToDo and #lemon8challenge has connected me with a vibrant community passionate about women empowerment in trades. Encouraging younger generations to pursue careers in construction also involves showcasing stories that highlight success despite obstacles. The presence of women on-site, identifiable by badges or gear marked 'LADYB,' symbolizes progress and inspires others. In summary, while progress requires ongoing effort, being a woman in construction today offers a dynamic environment filled with potential for growth, collaboration, and changing traditional narratives.
