Kappa Upsilon 50th Anniversary RECAP
This past weekend, I went to Auburn, Alabama to celebrate my chapter, Kappa Upsilon, 50th Anniversary. I’m glad to be a part of a milestone that changed Auburn University being the first NPHC sorority to pave the way. On top of that, we celebrated Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Founders Day! It was a back to back celebration! I had a great time, especially seeing my lovely Sorors ❤️.

What an absolutely incredible weekend it was! Attending the Kappa Upsilon 50th Anniversary at Auburn University wasn't just a party; it was a profound journey through history and sisterhood. When I saw the sign, 'EXIT KAPPA UPSILON 50TH ANNIVERSARY,' it really hit me — we were celebrating five decades of impact, resilience, and groundbreaking achievements. Imagine, being the first NPHC sorority to pave the way at Auburn. That's not just a statistic; it's a testament to the strength and vision of the founding members and every sister who followed. Being part of a milestone like this makes you reflect on the incredible legacy we stand upon. These organizations, especially those within the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), represent so much more than just social clubs. They are pillars of scholarship, service, and sisterhood. They've been instrumental in fostering leadership, advocating for social justice, and creating a supportive community for Black students on campuses where they might have otherwise felt marginalized. Seeing all the generations of Sorors come together, sharing stories, laughter, and tears, truly highlighted the enduring bond that Kappa Upsilon has forged over half a century. It's a living history lesson, showing how dedication and collective spirit can create a lasting impact. And as if celebrating Kappa Upsilon's incredible journey wasn't enough, we also had the immense privilege of honoring Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Founders Day! For those unfamiliar, Founders Day for DST is a monumental occasion. It’s a day to reflect on the 22 visionary women who founded our beloved sorority on January 13, 1913, at Howard University. These women challenged the status quo, demanding not just sisterhood but active engagement in social action and public service. Celebrating this day, especially alongside the 50th anniversary of Kappa Upsilon, felt like a double dose of inspiration. It reminded me why I joined – the commitment to excellence, the unwavering dedication to community uplift, and the powerful network of intelligent, driven women. These events aren't just about reminiscing; they're about reaffirming our vows to uphold the principles of our organizations and to continue building on the foundations laid by those who came before us. For anyone considering Greek life, especially NPHC organizations, I can't recommend it enough. It’s an opportunity to find a family away from home, to grow as a leader, and to contribute to meaningful change. Walking through Auburn that weekend, enveloped in the rich history of both Kappa Upsilon and Delta Sigma Theta, filled my heart with pride and purpose. It was a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when we stand together. Here’s to many more years of sisterhood, service, and paving the way!
