I recently completed my sixth session of DMI therapy, which stands for Dance Movement Imagery. This approach combines the healing power of movement with guided imagery to help process emotions and trauma in a holistic way. Working with Eric Richards and The Brookie Foundation has deepened my understanding of how body and mind connect. During sessions, I noticed subtle shifts not just in my mood, but also in how I carried tension physically. It’s become clear that the gentle, mindful movements help release stored emotions that I hadn’t been consciously aware of. What I appreciate most is that this therapy feels very personal—each movement is tailored to what my body needs that day. If you’re exploring therapy options, DMI might be worth trying especially if traditional talk therapies haven’t fully addressed deeper emotional blockages. The combination of imagination and physical movement provides a unique path for self-expression and healing. I find each session leaves me more grounded and connected to my internal experience. Overall, session six reinforced the value of combining creativity with therapeutic intention. It’s a journey of gentle transformation where I continue to learn about my own resilience and capacity for healing. I’m grateful to Eric Richards and The Brookie Foundation for facilitating such supportive sessions.
