🌸What nobody tells you about Salicylic Acid🌸
Salicylic Acid is an exfoliating acid widely used to treat acne, a must-have for anyone with acne prone skin but here are somethings people don't tell you about it.
Do's:
1. Pair with a hydration essence like snail mucin. No, it won't break you out, but it will help you to keep your skin healthy and hydrated. Salicylic acid tends to dry out your skin.
2. Pair with a gel moisturizer. Leave thick moisture for hydration days, for exfoliation days use a gel or lighter moisturizer so that it helps Salicylic acid to achieve its purpose.
3. Use on your exfoliation routine. A must have.
4. Use frequently to get rid of acne but not always! Ideally only 2-3x a week, more than that can truly damage your skin barrier.
Don't's:
1. NEVER ever use it during the DAY. Yes, even under sunscreen, it's extremely dangerous to use during the day because it can literally burn your skin. it's an exfoliating acid, and it's strong. For daytime use Centella ampules or bean essence.
2. NEVER overexfoliate, meaning, don't use a Salicylic acid everyday. One or two products with Salicylic acid is more than enough but you should only use them on your exfoliation nighttime routine. Using Salicylic acid everyday can truly break your skin barrier and cause extreme damage and even more acne💔 (happened to me).
3. Avoid Salicylic acid cleansers unless they also contain hydrating ingredients. But again, don't use it everyday.
4. NEVER MIX SALICYLIC ACID AND RETINOL. This is the worst thing you can do, in fact, Retinol should have its own night routine day, but if you do not need or use retinol then never pair it up with Salicylic.
🌟Thank you for reading, is there anything else you think I should add to this list? 😉
