Best Beginner Language Workbooks!
The Practice Makes Perfect – Complete Grammar series is my absolute favorite workbook to get started learning a language.
I purchased the Complete German Grammar book and found it both easy to follow but also challenging in a good way. I was just beginning learning German and I felt that the book explained concepts very well and I hardly had to turn to other resources for clarification.
Practice Makes Perfect also offers different series in other languages – like All-In-One, Basic [Japanese], Intermediate Grammar, etc.
Each chapter gets progressively more challenging, but each chapters covers the essential grammar and vocabulary necessary to prepare you for the next.
Keep in mind that beginner workbooks should also be used in combination with reading and listening.
Workbooks are generally suggested to be used for about 3 months – but if you feel that you can combine reading and listening at the same time then short form audio content will be a great addition to your learning!
