book review | Every Last Lie by Mary Kubica ð
my rating: âïļâïļâïļ
Setting: Chicago, Illinois ðģ
Clara Solberg investigates her husband Nickâs tragic death â a car accident that she suspects wasnât an accident. Clara and Nickâs young daughter was also in the car but was miraculously unharmed. Claraâs investigation uncovers a web of secrets, financial troubles, and deceit. ðĩ
Loved it until the end. The ending was completely awful and stupid. I find myself saying that a lot about this author. ðŦ
Ultimately a lot of build up and suspense to a very disappointing end.

Reading Every Last Lie was quite an emotional rollercoaster. I appreciated how the author skillfully used dual timelines to slowly reveal the depths of the story, which intensified the suspense. The setting in Chicago added a rich, atmospheric backdrop that truly brought the narrative to life. One interesting aspect was the portrayal of Clara Solberg's character; her determination to uncover the truth despite emotional turmoil felt authentic and relatable. As I read, I found myself piecing together hints alongside Clara, which kept me engaged throughout. However, many readers, including myself, found the ending quite disappointing compared to the gripping buildup. It felt rushed and somewhat lacking the resolution the rest of the story promised. The themes of obsession, deceit, and financial secrets intertwined to create a complex web that reflects real-life drama, something that Mary Kubica is known for as a New York Times bestselling author. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with unpredictable twists and a strong emotional core, this book might still be worth your time, despite the ending. I'd recommend discussing the final chapters with other readers to gain different perspectives, as it seems the conclusion is quite polarizing. Overall, Every Last Lie offers a compelling exploration of trust and betrayal, with a mystery that keeps you guessing. For fans of Ruth Wareâs style and those who love a page-turning whodunit, this book will deliver plenty of suspense, even if the ending may leave you wanting more.
