Setting: Atlanta, Georgia 🍑

Iris and Will have a seemingly perfect marriage. Until one morning Will leaves for a business trip to Orlando. A plane headed for Seattle crashes killing everyone on board. And it turns out Will was aboard that plane. Iris is convinced there is some sort of misunderstanding. As time passes she reluctantly accepts the truth and begins questioning everything.

Lots of suspense and build up in this book. I didn’t want to put it down. Loved that!

The ending felt rushed and the explanation for the whole situation was kind of lame. When the explanation started to unravel the book went downhill for me. 🙄

Kimberly Belle crafts a compelling story around Iris and Will, presenting a seemingly perfect marriage that shatters with a plane crash mystery. What intrigued me most was the theme of hidden identities and the secrets people keep, as the story gradually exposes a double life beneath the surface. The setting of Atlanta added a relatable Southern charm, giving the narrative an authentic backdrop. Throughout the book, I found myself questioning the reliability of appearances, much like Iris does, which intensified the suspense and kept me turning pages late at night. While the ending felt rushed and a bit unsatisfying to me, the buildup and exploration of trust, grief, and deception were captivating. If you enjoy fast-paced thriller books mixed with emotional depth and international bestseller-level storytelling, this novel fits perfectly. Also, the motif of a plane crash and a missing person added a poignant touch of real-world tragedy, making the reader ponder the impact of sudden loss and the human instinct to uncover truth no matter how painful. For fans of suspense books and thriller recommendations, 'The Marriage Lie' is an engaging pick, but be prepared for an ending that might leave you wanting more clarity. I’d recommend pairing it with other Kimberly Belle novels like 'The Last Breath' for more thrilling reads about hidden identities and secrets.
