Summer snack
Anybody else make their kids a “rainbow berry” bowl? All of the produce came from our local farmers market and my daughter Daughter especially loves this as a nice summer snack. It’s raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and strawberries.

During the warm summer months, finding snacks that are both healthy and appealing to children can be a challenge. Making a rainbow berry bowl is a fantastic way to introduce a variety of fresh, nutrient-packed fruits into your child’s diet. I love visiting my local farmers market to pick out the freshest raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries for this snack. Not only does the vibrant mix of colors make the bowl visually inviting, but the naturally sweet and tangy flavors also delight young taste buds. In my experience, involving kids in the preparation process enhances their interest in eating fruits. Kids enjoy arranging berries to create a rainbow pattern, making snack time a fun and educational activity. Berries are an excellent source of antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber, promoting good health and digestion. Plus, sourcing them from local produce stands ensures freshness and supports local farmers. For an extra treat, try adding a dollop of yogurt or a sprinkle of granola on top for texture and creaminess. You can also experiment with seasonal variations by adding chopped peaches, kiwi, or mango. Keeping snacks colorful, fresh, and simple helps establish healthy eating habits that children are more likely to carry into adulthood. Whether packing this berry bowl for a picnic or enjoying it as an afternoon refresher at home, it’s a win-win snack for parents and kids alike.
