Duskwalker book 4

I missed this universe like it personally wronged me by being gone 😩🙌🏻🤣

I swear every book just keeps getting better and this one might actually be my favorite?? And listen… I am WEAK for a grumpy x sunshine trope, so Raewyn and Merikh had me from the start. The relationship development?? Chef’s kiss. 💋 It actually took its time and didn’t speed-run feelings, which I appreciated.

Merikh though… someone give this duskwalker a hug immediately! 🥹 He’s out here being all grumpy and intimidating but internally he’s just a fluffy baby and I will not be told otherwise 😩💅🏻✨

I loved getting more Duskwalker lore too! Give me ALL the backstory, I am eating it up. ✨

The only thing is the ending felt a little rushed, like we went from “oooh tension” to “okay we’re done here” a bit too fast but honestly I was having such a good time I didn’t even mind that much. 🫶🏻

Anyway, I’m emotionally attached, slightly unwell, and already impatiently waiting for the next book 🙌🏻👀

3/29 Edited to

... Read moreOkay, so I really need to gush a bit more about what made "A Soul to Guide: Duskwalker Brides Book 4" by Opal Reyne such an unforgettable read for me. Beyond just the general 'I loved it,' let's talk details, especially for those curious about Raewyn and Merikh, or even characters like Nathair. First off, Raewyn and Merikh's dynamic is just... *everything*. I know I said 'grumpy x sunshine,' but it's deeper than that. You have Merikh, this formidable, horned figure, a Duskwalker known for his intimidating presence, and then there's Raewyn, who brings this incredible warmth and resilience. What I truly appreciated was how their relationship didn't just *happen*. It's a slow, delicious burn where you see them actually learn about each other. It’s not just about two beautiful people falling in love; it’s about two souls, one a powerful Duskwalker and the other a strong woman, finding connection despite their differences and the huge stakes involved in their world. We get glimpses of Merikh’s true self through Raewyn’s eyes – that 'fluffy baby' I mentioned? It’s real. Seeing him navigate emotions he’s probably suppressed for centuries, all while trying to protect Raewyn and his people, is just chef's kiss. Their banter, their unspoken understanding, and the way they challenge each other make them one of my all-time favorite book couples. And speaking of Duskwalkers, let’s not forget the rich lore that Opal Reyne builds! While Merikh is a central figure, characters like Nathair Duskwalker also play crucial roles in expanding this universe. For those wondering about Nathair, he represents a different facet of Duskwalker society and power. Without giving away too many spoilers for previous books, understanding characters like Nathair helps flesh out the political landscape and the internal struggles within the Duskwalker world. Is he friend or foe? An ally or an obstacle? His appearances always add another layer of complexity to the narrative, reminding us that Merikh and Raewyn’s journey isn't just personal, but deeply intertwined with the fate of their entire race. The backstory we get in Book 4 really dives into the origins and traditions of the Duskwalkers, helping us understand why certain characters behave the way they do, and what their ultimate goals might be. Merikh himself is a character I could analyze for days. He carries so much weight, so much history. The initial impression of him as purely a 'grumpy' warrior quickly dissolves as you witness his quiet acts of care and his fierce loyalty. He's a protector, yes, but also deeply vulnerable. This book really highlights his internal conflict between duty and desire, between the Duskwalker he’s expected to be and the individual he’s becoming because of Raewyn. The cover art, showing the powerful horned figure and the determined woman, perfectly encapsulates their dynamic. It’s not just a romance; it’s a journey of self-discovery for both of them, and for Merikh especially, seeing him slowly open up and trust is incredibly rewarding. I’m already counting down the days until the next installment to see where their story, and the wider Duskwalker saga, takes us!
