Locs are definitely a journey
Because why?! How? 😩🤣 what am I supposed to do with this? To be fair I play in my hair (I have ADHD and playing in my hair has always been a thing for me) but this right here is crazy!!! I don’t even think I was playing with this loc but who knows 😩😩 #locsjourney #crazyloc #locrepair #hangingonbyathread
Embarking on a loc journey is truly a personal and sometimes unpredictable experience. From my own time maintaining locs, I've learned that patience and gentle care are essential. One of the more challenging aspects I faced was dealing with fragile or 'hanging by a thread' locs which seemed to defy my usual care routines. Having ADHD, playing with my hair has always been a compulsive habit, and it's something many with locs can relate to—sometimes without meaning to tamper with the delicate structure of the loc itself. What surprised me most was how small, unnoticed actions could cause significant wear or even damage to locs. This highlighted the importance of mindfulness and adapting habits to preserve the loc’s integrity. When locs feel like they're on the brink, timely loc repair becomes crucial. I discovered that regular moisturizing, gentle retwisting, and protecting locs during sleep with silk scarves or bonnets greatly extend their life and resilience. Moreover, allowing locs time to breathe and avoiding excessive manipulation helps maintain their health. Each loc’s journey is unique and involves ups and downs, twists and maintenance challenges. Sharing experiences like these can shed light on the real-life side of loc care that often goes unspoken. Remember, the journey is as much about embracing imperfections as it is about caring for the locs themselves.
