Meet our Christmas Puppy!!
Hi all! It’s been forever since I’ve posted on here!
Last year RIGHT before we got Hooch fixed he at some point tied with Sandy, and created our little Christmas gift. We didn’t know Sandy was pregnant until after we got hooch fixed. We quickly started preparing and taking her for vet visits. The first image is of us finding out she was carrying 1 puppy!
We started taking guess’s on if it was a boy or a girl and I just knew it was going to be a boy. Because of the size of the puppy and the fact that it was only 1 we started preparing to have a c section done. Before Christmas Day we were told we could schedule the c section the following Tuesday after Christmas.
Christmas Day my boyfriend was 2 hours away with family and I was at home with my 3 dogs waiting and watching for signs of Sandy going into labor because we were so close to her due date. She started having contractions at 12, I instantly called my mom as she was a vet tech and has delivered puppies before (Sandy being 1) and in no time she was here helping me with Sandy’s labor.
Sandy was pushing actively but was struggling a little to get the pup through the birth canal because of the size so we had to help her along the way by massaging and helping coax him along. Before we knew it the pups snout was sticking out, the sac had broke and we thought for sure the pup was stuck.
I started preparing to rush Sandy to the emergency vet, the puppy had a slim chance of making it with the 30 minute drive but I was focused on making sure I didn’t loose both of them.
After starting my car, getting dressed and rushing back into the house my mom was working to help move the puppy along. At 2:01 a beautiful little boy came into the world. I instantly started bawling because i was so scared of losing either of them. I forgot all about my car running and just sat there and watched Sandy take care of her new baby.
A short 5 minutes later my boyfriend rushed in, sad he missed it but happy that everything was okay. We instantly fell in love with this little porker and started trying to think of what the name him.
We watched him grow so fast in front of our eyes, his face squishy and very mastiff like. Every day was a new adventure from him rolling around in the whelping box, to learning how to escape it, to climbing over the baby gate to join the big dogs.
We called him bean up until he was 8 weeks old when I decided he HAD to have a name other than bean to put on his vet records.
And with that Bean became Enzo. He is now 16 weeks old, so 4 months. 🥰 He just had the last of his shots yesterday, and is thriving with his family. He is a very smart guy, who has learned sit, shake, down, spin, heal and kennel very fast.
In July he will be going on a hiking trip with us, as of right now he is not a fan of his leash but we are working on it! His favorite toys are sticks, and his favorite activity is following Hooch around the back yard. (This includes zoomies where he often gets tackled)
We never planned for a puppy to happen, and there are for sure no more to come, but I’m glad he’s here and with us. I now have a piece of my 2 dogs to keep when they pass on in 15 ish years.

Bringing a puppy into your home can be an exciting, albeit unexpected, journey. In this case, Sandy's surprise pregnancy resulted in the birth of a beautiful puppy on Christmas Day. Puppy care begins with making vital preparations such as choosing a suitable name, which can greatly influence bonding and training. Early socialization is crucial; puppies need to interact with both people and other pets as they grow to develop positive behavior. The story of Enzo is not just about his quirky adventures and playful energy; it touches upon the emotional bonds that form and the responsibilities that come with puppy ownership. From basic training—such as learning commands like sit, stay, and heel—to ensuring health with regular vet visits and vaccinations, every puppy journey is unique. Remember, investing time in training and understanding your puppy's needs lays a solid foundation for a loving pet-parent relationship. For those pondering puppy adoption, it's recommended to research breeds and their temperaments to ensure a good match with your lifestyle.
