My 16 year old dog has Cancer. 🙁
Doing an update on my life since the last time I posted. Unfortunately we found out this year that my soul dog Max has a large tumor in his stomach. He was having some tummy and stool issues and I was extremely worried. I knew instantly by the look on my vets face that she had found something and I knew what that something was.
I have the most AMAZING vet clinic ever. They do everything they can to help with any issue I have. And they absolutely spoil my dogs when they come in. So I trust my vet 100% with any and everything.
Obviously it was a shock. And I was bawling my eyes out in the car. I was so out of it that I ended up having to text them back to ask questions I had completely forgotten to ask. I was so scared that I’d have to put my best friend down that same week.
I asked them if they thought it was time for him to go, they told me no. That he is a happy dog loving his life and until I see it start to affect him, let him live his life.
It has been 2 months since the diagnosis and max has not slowed his roll 1 bit. He is still sassy, hungrier than ever. And still runs around with the pup sometimes. I know that the time is coming eventually. But for now I’m going to enjoy the time I have with him. ❤️
Dealing with a cancer diagnosis in a pet can be overwhelming. Many pet owners face similar situations, and it's crucial to find a supportive veterinary clinic that can provide compassionate care. Understanding the types of tumors common in dogs, such as stomach tumors, can help in negotiating treatment options. Consider exploring palliative care or alternative therapies to improve your dog's quality of life. Many dogs with cancer can maintain happiness and vitality for years with the right support. Additionally, creating a special routine filled with love and attention can strengthen the bond between you and your furry friend. Make sure to document these moments, as they are precious and can help in processing your emotions during this challenging time. Remember, you are not alone; countless others are experiencing similar journeys, and communities exist to share support and advice.
