Trying snacks from Japan’s convenience stores like FamilyMart, Lawson, and 7-Eleven is always an exciting adventure because they offer unique flavors you might not find anywhere else. Based on my experience, some of the best snacks I've tried include the Strawberry Milk from FamilyMart, which scored a 9/10 because of its delightful balance of sweetness and genuine fruit pieces—making it refreshing and indulgent at the same time. The Strawberry Jello or pudding, also rated 9/10, offers a smooth texture and satisfying taste that absolutely hits the spot for dessert lovers. On the fruit soda front, the Shine Muscat Grape Soda grew on me with each sip, scoring 7/10, despite initially being unsure about the grape flavor. However, the citrus soda wasn’t quite my favorite, scoring a 5/10, likely because I’m not a big fan of citrus flavors in drinks. If you have a different preference, you might enjoy it more. For sweet snacks, the Tokyo Carameliser Stroopwafel dupe was a highlight, an 8/10 for capturing that rich caramel essence nicely. The chocolate-covered strawberry crunchy bites were both lowkey addictive and a nice reward treat, also earning a 9/10. If you prefer savory, the Egg Sando (egg sandwich) from 7-Eleven received a solid 7/10. It’s reasonably priced and fulfills the craving for something simple and satisfying. However, the UFO Stirfry Ramen was a disappointment for me, just 1/10, due to its sauce that reminded me of herbal medicine and was hard to enjoy. Overall, Japanese convenience stores are treasure troves of convenient and delicious snacks, each with its own unique appeal. Sampling a variety like I did not only satisfies different cravings but also offers a fun way to experience local flavors. If you're visiting Tokyo or Japan in general, I highly recommend trying these snacks to get a real taste of everyday Japanese comfort food and treats.
