🌸Book Review🌸 Morbidly Yours
As much as I wanted to like this book, it just wasn’t meant to be. In this book, we have Lark who has just moved to Ireland from Texas. She moves in next door to a funeral home & her first encounter with Callum (the owner of the funeral home) is when body bags were accidentally delivered to her house.
This book follows Lark as she explores Ireland, enjoys her new job, but also helps Callum navigate dating so that he can find a wife & keep his family business from being sold off by his father. Along the way, Callum realizes that he has fallen for Lark & wants no one but her. They try, but Lark is hung up on her deceased husband & the thought of loving another is just too much for her. After some reflection, things change for Lark. Something clicks & she realizes that maybe loving someone else isn’t too bad. What do you think happens?
I cannot tell what the disconnect was for me with this book or why I didn’t enjoy it. The storyline is there, the plot is there. I just didn’t enjoy it, sadly. This was 3/5 ⭐️ for me. Maybe someone else will enjoy it. If you read it, let me know your thoughts.

Okay, so you've seen my 3/5 star review for 'Morbidly Yours' by Ivy Fairbanks, and maybe you're wondering, 'Is it still worth picking up?' My honest answer is, absolutely! Just because a book didn't quite click for me doesn't mean it won't be your next favorite read. In fact, many readers have absolutely loved this 'Love in Galway Novel', praising it for its unique charm and heartfelt story. Let's dive a little deeper into what makes 'Morbidly Yours' such an intriguing read. The premise itself is fantastic: an 'Animator meets Undertaker' romance! How often do you come across that? Lark, our protagonist, leaves Texas for Ireland, only to end up living next door to a funeral home. Her first encounter with Callum, the handsome undertaker, involves a rather… morbid delivery mix-up. This quirky meet-cute sets the stage for a story that promises both humor and deep emotional reflection. The book is set in the beautiful landscapes of Ireland, which always adds a wonderful atmosphere to any story. Imagine exploring charming towns and picturesque scenery while two endearing characters navigate their complicated feelings. Callum, trying to save his family business, needs a wife – and Lark initially tries to help him find one, only for fate (and undeniable chemistry) to intervene. It’s a classic romance trope with a fresh, unique twist. The cover, featuring a striking design that often hints at the book's darker, yet romantic, themes, usually catches the eye of readers looking for something a bit different. Often, the 'Morbidly Yours' cover does a great job of conveying that blend of whimsy and melancholy that defines the story. One of the central themes that truly stands out is Lark's journey through grief and her struggle to open her heart again after losing her husband. This isn't just a fluffy romance; it delves into the complexities of moving on, finding new love, and embracing happiness without guilt. Callum's patience and steadfast love for Lark are truly heartwarming, making you root for them to overcome their obstacles. While I personally found a bit of a disconnect, I can easily see how others would be completely swept away by their emotional arc. If you're a fan of contemporary romance with a dash of quirky charm, emotional depth, and a unique premise, 'Morbidly Yours' might just be perfect for you. It's been called 'Sweet and spicy and fabulous!' by none other than #1 New York Times bestselling author Abby Jimenez, which is a huge endorsement! So, if you're looking for a heartwarming story about healing, unexpected love, and finding joy in the most unlikely places, give it a try. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you do!
